Goods: Womenswear and accessories. Owner: Melissa Serpico Kamhout is also the designer of the eponymous boutique. Vibe: A quiet haven on the periphery of Wicker Park, SERPICO is decorated with precise minimalism. Dark floors and bright white walls are the perfect frame for the bold and vibrant garments that adorn the racks. A sheer silk curtain separates the storefront from Serpico Kamhout’s own design studio, hinting at the personalized attention each garment and client receives. Price Range: Expensive, but justifiably so; the garments are made in Italian ateliers and the fabrics are luxurious. The Look: Elegant and timeless. The silk charmeuse dresses have an interesting “twist,” while cleverly seamed pants hug the legs in all the right places. And owner/designer Serpico Kamhout recently introduced a line of accessories, with items such as a hand-knotted silk taffeta necklace, all made in-house. Shopper’s Perks: Clients have the opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind garments that have been designed, produced and handmade in the atelier at the back of the space. With the purchase of outerwear, Serpico Kamhout will hand-stitch your monogram into the lining.
