Cool sunny weather and a bustling Division Street are the perfect setting for several boutiques and salons to set up tables and clothing racks on this Saturday afternoon. However, the one that draws the biggest crowd, combining fashion and live music, is Moonshine’s first annual Rockaholic Fashion Fest.
Ten booths representing stores from the Wicker Park neighborhood—M.GO Fashion Salon, Funkshion Clothing, Sugar & Spice, G Design, Dolly Bird Designs and Wanda Cobar Collection to name a few—form a straight line along the side of Moonshine’s parking lot, and a small portion of the sidewalk. As people browse each table, live music blasts from the stage set up on the other side of the lot. The event was put together by Michelle Gomez of Dynamic Hair Studios and Mike Lee of Moonshine as a way to give neighborhood businesses the opportunity to display their products.
From now on the bar hopes to have the festival twice a year. One will take place at the beginning of summer in May and the other at the end in August. “It was a huge success and the weather helped make it a great event,” Moonshine’s general manager Chris Storey says. (Beth Wang)
