Blogger Meagan Fredette (latterstyle.com) was sipping her wine during The Walk, a fashion event featuring designs by students from the School of the Art Institute.
What do you expect to see tonight?
Weirdness. Students don’t have a sense of commercialism yet, and raw talent is so exciting.
What was the first item of your look you picked?
This T-shirt! It’s A Place to Bury Strangers, my friends’ band. The tee actually belongs to my boyfriend, and I fished it out of his hamper this morning. It’s kind of fun to wear very mundane, un-fancy things to fancy events. Helps me stay down to earth.
Are these owls on your jacket?
These are falcons. Falcons in a kaleidoscope. Pretty fantastic. The jacket is by Risto Bimbiloski and was custom-made for me. It’s one of my favorite pieces in my closet.
What’s your secret to mixing prints?
Pick a color family and stay with it. Today I chose my two favorite colors, black and blue, and accented it with white.
Did you hem your skirt yourself?
Ha! No way! I am not a crafty person in the slightest. I’m creative in my mind… not so much with my hands. The skirt is by Rodarte and came that way.
